I've just watched through the entire Volume 8, and I'm pleased to report there are no problems. The sound is fine and even the advert breaks are okay - no dialogue cut off. There is a gap of 90 seconds of blackness after the end credits of episode 54, but that's a minor quibble!
;D

The odd flat screen monitor also seems to feature the "Philips" logo. In other episode/seens the brand name seems have been removed. Philips, Simply Years Ahead

The monitors were widescreen too!
I also see that some of the 31 West material that had been nibbled out of the previous discs (former costume designer Maxine Henry with the original costumes, and that mad bloke with his his "Centaur laser battle") finally made it here. Be grateful that we never saw their vision of Jupiter Moon guys!!!!!!
I have only watched episode 51 so far, but I really enjoyed it. This volume may not be big on overarching plots, but it is wonderfully written and the characters really live. I've always loved this period of the programme (it really opens out) and I have always liked the character of Herr Brinker. Even though Thomas Naumann sometimes struggled with his english, it gave his character a real genuine touch.

Some good character stuff and a few laughs thrown in as well! By the way, Nathan - where did the Brelan intro come from? Did you write this or was it part of an intro written when the show was broadcast? ;D ;D

Mine's arrived and I've not had time to do anything other than breathe a sigh of relief. And then go to bed! Another five episodes to satisfy my craving... ;D

By the way, Nathan - where did the Brelan intro come from? Did you write this or was it part of an intro written when the show was broadcast? No, it is new (hence the "retconning" of the autosec - although it is a very well observed point) and was written by William. I believe it was originally intended to be a voice over by Richard Derrington (over various Ilea footage) for inclusion on one of the earlier DVD sets, but it never materialised.
