After some coaxing, I've finally cajoled my wife (who's an archive TV fan like myself) in giving "Jupiter Moon" a try. Initially, when I bought the first DVD, we sat down together and watched the first episode. She wasn't best impressed, and I thought I'd leave watching the series until I had a few volumes - but I was pretty sure that it was a series I was going to like.
Anyway, just before I started on my marathon view last week, I asked her if she wanted to start watching the series properly or not. She preferred not to, as she hates soaps (so do I generally), and thought it was all a bit cheap and crummy looking. So, I sat down and trawled through 30 episodes... and wouldn't stop going on about how good it is. Eventually, she caved in and has watched Episodes 1 and 2 with me... and she's of the opinion that it's not as bad as she thought it would be... and that she's up for seeing a few more episodes before deciding whether she'll want to watch regularly.
I think those are quite good signs... and that she'll warm to the series as there are some great moments even on the first DVD volume.
So, what do other forum members' partners or friends think about the series? Do you have to watch it alone, or is JM a part of your life that people are willing to share in?

I watched it all with the wife when it was on Scifi back in the mid 90's.
She enjoyed it and got quite into it at the time, even coming with me to meet Richard Derrington on a few occasions.
She usually does something else though when I am trawling through episodes and making notes and so on, but she will sit down and watch a DVD episode with me when I first get them.

It's always good to be able to be accompanied by your wife on such occasions... It stops the guy you're meeting jumping to the conclusion that you're a complete spod with no social skills! Always works for me! ;D

Luckily, I'm not attached so I can drool over Rosie and Chantal in peace

Make sure you're wearing your bib while drooling, gbhxu! I do most of my drooling when Nikki Brooks is on screen, though Caroline Evans and Anna Chancellor are rather gorgeous too.

It worked... Thanks a million. If you could have air conditioned my bedroom, everything would have been perfect! Boy was it hot last night! (As an aside... I think Eliot is probably my favourite character so far. Finbow and Mercedes run him a close second.)

Update re: Alys and the series... After Ep. 3 "Actually, it's alright..." After Ep. 4 "OK, I'm enjoying this, and I didn't think I would." Looks like another convert!

Yeah, on second viewing, Episode 4 is not the best. Too much soap and not enough science fiction. Still enjoyable, but the real story doesn't go very far in it...

... and it doesn't even kick off until Episode 5! She's seen #5... and is suddenly asking all sorts of questions about the series. She may, very possibly, be hooked!

Episode 4 is a bit of a comedy episode. Nothing really happens in it. And the bit at the end with Bob's song to Sara is positively nauseating!!
